The artwork aims to celebrate the amazing and diverse area that is the Four Heatons, it offers a glimpse into its history and an indication of its many attractions from shops and wine bars, to its beautiful natural spaces. Local Community and Public artist Karen Allerton worked closely with members of the FofHCS to develop ideas for the artwork and went into local schools to gather images and designs for the piece. Phil Rowbotham kindly contributed both his photos of the area and historical knowledge.
The Artwork project was kindly sponsored by 15 local companies, local organisations and by Northern Rail. Sixteen Artwork panels on 18m of wall down on platform 2 were unveiled by local singer songwriter Jessie Rose together with schoolchildren from local primary schools. St. Thomas', Norris Bank and Broadstone Road, on the 25th May 2012. Over 200 people attended this launch on a wonderfully sunny Friday afternoon and they were entertained by a local Ukulele band and refreshments were kindly provided by the local Town Bar in Heaton Moor.
